Frankly, she's nuts!

My daughter, Bri, is often the subject of my blog posts because she's...well, frankly, she's nuts!  In a good way, though!  She brings smiles to our household on a daily basis and most days she doesn't even realize why.

This layout features the Sami's Smile collection from Creative Imaginations.  While it is an older collection, I just love the colors and brightness.  It has four double-sided papers along with coordinating rub-ons, epoxy and chipboard.  I also used the new Core Impression paper from the Stacy Julian collection by Core'dinations.  Just a little sanding and the words pop right out.

Home Sweet Home

My husband and I will be married 20 years in April, so it just seemed fitting that I make this year's Valentine's Day unforgettable.  I decided that I would surprise him with a short vacation for just the two of us.  He would have no idea where we were going or what we were going to do.

I decided that a trip to Nashville would be great surprise since two of our favorite comedians were performing at the Grand Ole Opry and, although we've driven through Nashville, we've never stayed and explored.

So that my husband didn't feel completely clueless, I made him a scrapbook with a page for each of the events that I had planned.  This layout features the two pages where we are traveling between our first destination (Carbondale) and our final destination (Nashville).  The collection is from Cosmo Cricket (Joy Ride) and features several double-sided papers, chipboard, stickers and other coordinating embellishments.  I chose it because of its travel theme and fun, crazy colors.

We ended up having a great time.  Nashville was a great destination and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!  As I "finish" his scrapbook of our trip, I'll be sure to share more layouts.

13 Degrees Below Zero

Today the little "weather bug" on my computer was flashing -13 degrees!  Luckily I have nowhere to go, so I will light a fire and work on some scrapbook layouts while enjoying the warmth of my cozy little home.  We live in the midwest, so it's something we have to deal with, but honestly, I would give anything to be back here:

These photos were all taken in Guatemala at various stops along our river tour.  It was so hot and muggy that you could sweat just standing still.  This layout features the Paradise Found collection from Moxxie.  It offers three double-sided papers and coordinating stickers and rub-ons.  I love this collection because of its unique colors and designs.

Loving the outdoors!

Our family loves to spend time outdoors.  We are avid campers, fishermen, bikers...you name it and if it can be done outdoors, we'll do it.  These photos are from a local orchard that has a huge corn maze and other fun things to do.  My husband was so impressed by the John Deere that I just had to take his photo.

This layout features the Roughin' It collection by Bo Bunny.  It features ten double-sided papers for and several coordinating embellishments including chipboard.  I also used some yellow paper ribbon from Flair Designs as an accent.

Where does the time go?

It's been a very busy start to 2011 for me but I'm not complaining!  The store has been busier than ever and it seems like more people are starting to vacation again or maybe they're just scrapbooking past vacations. Either way, I decided I needed a vacation, too.  So, my girlfriend and I decided to spend an entire week scrapbooking in northern Wisconsin (the Northwoods as they call it).  I had never been that far north, so it was an experience for me, but one I will never forget.  The house where we stayed, which belongs to my girlfriend's in-laws, is situated on a lake and is surrounded by forest.  The morning sun rising is absolutely breathtaking and the daily sightings of deer and bald eagles were just as amazing.  Here's a view from the area of the house where we had our scrapbooking tables setup.

Occasionally I found the inspiration to actually do some scrapbooking!  This is one of the two-page layouts I worked on during the week.  I used the Great Outdoors collection from Reminisce.  This collection features several double-sided papers with coordinating icon stickers and quote stickers.  It's very fun to work with and is quite versatile.
