Thirty Days of Christmas Layouts (Day Seven): Joys of the Season

Thirty Days of Christmas Layouts:  Day Seven

Today's layout features the Joys of the Season collection from Moxxie.  This collection features seven, double-sided papers, three coordinating die-cut papers, two cardstock sticker sheets and three rub ons.  I love the non-traditional blues in this collection along with the elegant reindeer and doves.  The poinsettias in this layout were created using alcohol inks.  If you'd like specific instructions just email me at doyoucrop@gmail.com.

Thirty Days of Christmas Layouts (Day Five): Snow Day!

Thirty Days of Christmas Layouts:  Day Five

Today's layout features the Polar Christmas collection by Debbie Mumm (c) and Creative Imaginations.  This collection is fun, fun, fun featuring polar bears and penguins.   While great for a Christmas layout, this collection also goes well for scrapbooking those snowy day pictures, too.  There are three double-sided papers and a glittered paper along with a cardstock sticker sheet and epoxy stickers.  I also used it to create several Christmas cards!

A Day To Remember Our Veterans

Happy Veterans Day to all soldiers!

I spent this morning on the Cards For Soldiers blog.  I was reading the thank you notes that soldiers have sent and was blubbering like a baby.  There was one soldier's thank you card regarding a Father's Day card he was able to send to his dad that was a real tear jerker.

So, on this Veteran's Day I would like to share some information about a very worthwhile organization that is directly related to crafting.  The Cards For Soldiers organization collects and sends cards to soldiers who, in turn, use the cards to keep in touch with their families back home.  It's probably the easiest crafting project you'll ever do; just create A2 sized cards (handmade and no glitter, please) then send them off to the Cards For Soldiers headquarters (you'll find the exact address and more information on their blog).  They collect the cards from all over, then package them up, along with envelopes, and send them off to various troops.

I really enjoy doing this because not only does it make me feel good, but it reminds me that there are soldiers all over this world protecting us.  So again, a huge thank you to all our veterans!

More Christmas Card Ideas

Happy Hump Day!  In my never-ending effort to get my Christmas cards made, I spent a little time over the weekend making a few more.  Here are some quick samples; some of which I made specifically for Cards For Soldiers.  All the supplies for these cards can be found on our website, Scrapbook Supply Companies, and will also be featured during our 30 Days of Christmas blog posts which begins November 24th.  If you haven't read the details about the 30 Days of Christmas blog yet, you can find them here

Waiting For The Thanksgiving Feast!

I've been thinking about what I'm going to bring for Thanksgiving dinner, and I found some "new" recipes in this month's Family Circle magazine that are intriguing.  While I'm not usually one to experiment, some of the recipes sound delicious!

And since the food is normally the main attraction at Thanksgiving, I decided to do a layout featuring the food! This layout features the Harvest Collection from Reminisce.  It is such an elegant collection that very few embellishments are needed.  For this layout I chose to use rosettes and wooden leaves by Kasiercraft, tinted with Tim Holtz's distress inks, to bring some accent.  Now I just have to wait for Thanksgiving to fill in the pics!

2 Million Dogs

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I did a charity walk over the weekend with my dog, Nitro, to help raise funds for 2milliondogs.org.  This is a wonderful organization that I learned of after Nitro was diagnosed with a Mast Cell Tumor a few weeks ago.  Their goal is to bring awareness about canine cancer as well as determine the common factors between human and canine cancer.  Fortunately for us, Nitro's tumor was removed and graded as a one (meaning there's a 90% chance the cancer won't come back).

Today's layout is all about Nitro and the new Dog Park collection from Reminisce.  I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I consider our pets as members of our family.  They are our companions and protectors, and can often be a good source of entertainment as well!

Loving The Fall Colors

One of my favorite parts about fall is the lovely colors that it brings with it.  Yesterday when I was walking with my dog I made a point to notice all the trees and what color their leaves were.  While most were all yellow or red, some were still full green.  It's that juxtaposition of colors that I absolutely love about fall.

This layout features the new Harvest Collection from Reminisce with a laser cut overlay.  While I normally don't use overlays (likely because I usually can't make them work well), I did think that this one complimented the paper perfectly.  I also used a few of the new Candi dots in opposing corners as a bit of an accent.

Did you miss me?

Did you miss me?  I have not posted in over a week, but it's because I've been working diligently on our first annual "Thirty Days of Christmas" blog.  More details will follow in the coming days, but trust me, you aren't going to want to miss this!  Not only will you see layouts from the latest and greatest Christmas collections, but you will have multiple chances to win a scrapbook prize pack valued at over $150.00!

In the meantime, here's a quick layout featuring paper from Masterpiece Studios.  We created this cute but simple layout at a retreat over the weekend.  I just love how popular banners have become.  They're easy, fun and really bring out the message or title on a layout.  I also embossed and sanded the leaves, then sprayed them with some Glimmer Mist to give them some shimmer (even though that's hard to see in the photo).
